keepy

Meeting notes that never leave your computer.

Keepy keeps the live captions of your Google Meet and Microsoft Teams calls as Markdown on your computer. Zoom's web client is in beta. No bot in the call, no account, no cloud.

Coming soon to the Chrome Web Store See what a file looks like

Runs in Chrome, on Meet and Teams. Zoom's web client (beta) is off until you turn it on.

Your transcripts never touch a server. Keepy doesn't have one.

Most meeting tools send your calls to their cloud to be transcribed and stored. That is why so many companies don't allow them. Keepy works differently: the call already produces captions, and Keepy writes them down, right there in your browser.

  • No bot. Nobody new joins the call, and nothing shows up in the participant list.
  • No account. There is nothing to sign up for, so there is nothing to sign in to.
  • No upload. Transcripts stay in your browser and in your Downloads folder. Keepy has no analytics and loads no code from the internet.
  • No audio. Keepy keeps text, never sound. The speech-to-text is the call's own captions.

A file people and models can read

Every call becomes one Markdown file, with the facts about the call at the top. Read it in any editor, keep it in your notes, or hand it to an AI model. Run the model on your own machine, and nothing about the call ever leaves it.

# Pricing review

- Platform: Google Meet

…

_Keepy 1.18.0. Captions never left this computer._

00:00 Ana Ruiz: Okay, let's start with pricing for the spring plan.

00:07 Sam Okafor: If we hold the price until April, we keep the schools that signed up in January.

00:15 Lee Park: Then the discount ends on the thirtieth.

02:36 Dana Wu (chat): The deck is in the channel.

On your own machine

A local model reads the file where it is. The call, the transcript and the answer all stay on your computer.

$ ollama run llama3.2 "List the decisions and who owns each: $(cat ~/Downloads/keepy/keepy_meet_pricing-review_20261002_0930.md)"

Works the same with LM Studio, llama.cpp or any tool that reads text.

Across every call

Point Claude Code, Cursor or Codex at the folder and ask what changed since last week, or who promised what.

In your notes

Open the folder in Obsidian or Logseq. Each call is a page, with its date and attendees as properties you can filter.

If you choose a cloud tool such as ChatGPT, Claude or NotebookLM instead, that is your call, and that tool's own privacy terms apply to the file you give it. Keepy itself sends nothing.

Join, talk, leave

From the call you are in to a file on your computer.

  1. Join in Chrome

On Meet, Keepy starts on its own, and you don't have to keep the caption bar on screen. The first time you use Teams, press Turn on for Teams on that tab. Chrome asks once. Zoom's web client is in beta: turn it on in Settings, then press Turn on captions in the panel.

  2. Talk

A small panel beside the call shows who said what. The panel takes a picture when a screen is shared. Settings can change that to each slide change, or off. The camera button takes one any time. Pause the panel for anything off the record, or minimise it to a strip.

  3. Leave

The file lands in your Downloads folder, and a copy stays under All transcripts until you delete it. There you can search every call, fix a wrong name once for every line, and teach Keepy the words captions mishear. Calls that end with no captions, chat or pictures are not kept.

Questions

Will the others in the call know?

Keepy doesn't add anyone to the call, and it doesn't announce itself. Tell the others yourself, and follow the consent rules that apply to you and to them.

Who turns speech into text?

Google, Microsoft or Zoom. The words are the call's own captions, whether or not Meet's caption bar is open, so they are exactly as good as those captions. Keepy sends no audio anywhere.

Why does Zoom ask me for a language?

When captions start for the first time in a meeting, Zoom asks which language people will speak, and the choice applies to everyone. Keepy leaves it to you: it never picks a language and never presses Save.

Is Zoom ready?

Zoom's web client is in beta: tested with one person, and captions need the host's account to allow them.

Does it work with the Teams or Zoom desktop apps?

No. Desktop apps aren't web pages, so a browser extension can't see them. Join in Chrome instead. Zoom's web client is in beta. Keepy can open Zoom invite links in the browser for you, if you turn that on in its settings.

What about private windows?

If you allow Keepy there, a private-window call with captions, chat or pictures is saved to Downloads and never appears under All transcripts. Keepy deletes its copy once the file is saved. A call that lasted at most a minute and a half, with at most ten lines, stays up to three minutes after it ends, so a quick rejoin can resume it. A private call with nothing in it is removed the next time Chrome starts.

What does Keepy ask Chrome for?

At install, Google Meet pages, and Google Chat pages, which are only used for Meet's chat panel. Teams and Zoom web pages only when you turn them on, and Chrome asks you first. Storage, to keep transcripts until you delete them. Downloads, to save the files. Alarms, to tidy away calls where nothing was said. Scripting, to run on the call page. ActiveTab, so the toolbar button can see which call you are on. And the Zoom link setting, only if you turn it on.

Copy for AI?

On the transcript page, Copy for AI puts a short prompt above the transcript, for pasting into any AI assistant you choose. Keepy itself sends nothing.

Keep your next call.

Keepy is on its way to the Chrome Web Store.
